The point is that it is really really hard to win as an independent Yet this time there were 6 candidates that succeeded that did not fit the above criteria, that genuinely came from the community That is more than the last 50 years combined

This leaves us with just 6 instances from 1972-2019 3 of them were @Indigocathy 2013, @helenhainesindi 2019, @zalisteggall 2019 Of the 3 remaining: Gavin Priestly followed a popular independent MP, Peter Andren Helen Caldicott an anti-nuclear activist @WilkieMP in Denison 2010
